Youer than You... Me-er than Me...

“Today you are
You,
that is truer than
true.
There is no one alive
who is Youer
than You.
Dr. Seuss

Where to begin... where to start.
I had no intention of letting so much time pass between blog posts.
I got to thinking
(upon reading these words from the Dr. Seuss Happy Birthday to You book)
that I was off being ME...
Me-er than Me
I suppose.

Summer ended, before one could blink...
we quickly rolled into a "new season"
that's making me think,
what will this season bring,
a continued uncertainty?
or... perhaps growth, a clear path,
& a door opening for me.
Dr. Seuss is certainly contagious.
I just had to do it!

A few highlights from the past few weeks
that have kept
me
being
me...

I'm feeling the process of stretching myself into some uncharted territory.
The  b l o o m  piece above
gives a little sneak peek
into a style I see developing.
I am exploring a new way of seeing, a new way of combining elements,
and a mixture of new mediums.
This kind of "art play" has been a freeing and joyful experience.
b l o o m
gives me a sense
that I am
opening
up a bit.
(I'll be posting 2 more pieces this week ~ I'd love your input friends...)

A most exciting thing happened a couple of weeks ago...
I was featured in the "shared stories" segment of Beth Nicholls blog.
(blush and gush)
I was honored and thrilled to share some thoughts
on the"doing what you love" space.
Beth Nicholls has a beautiful way of bringing us to the place
of seeing our value, and feeling encouraged,
to do what we love for life.
I've been reading the inspired stories of other artists,
gathering insight, from many amazing artist interviews,
and planning to fly into another level of growth by 2012
with the soul sessions e-course being offered
by the fabulous duo~ Kelly Rae Roberts & Beth Nicholls.
(check it out- sign up's are still available).
Many good things to look forward to!
And a sign of growth ahead...

I'll leave you with my heart and some warm coffee
until the next post!

Linking up with the creatives at StudioJRU~

A little of this... A little of that...

Where to begin... busy busy week.
I came across this quote that was very encouraging, and had to share...

Act as if what you do
makes a difference.

It does.

~William James

The simplicity of knowing,
that what we are doing as creatives really does matter...
adds a cherry on top of the sundae for me!
(As do the words I chose for my little birdie painting plate-
a pure expression of how I feel when I am "creating".

If you've been popping in now and then,
you may have noticed that there are a group of creatives
that have been linking on a regular basis to studiojru.
Jennifer has been hosting this lovely space
where creative gifts are being shared.
I am happy to mention that this week's link-up will be at the (in)courage site.
A wonderful place of inspiration, community, creativity, and fabulous product.
Grab a coffee, a tea, and take a look through-there's so much to see.

Here's what I had been up to...

launching... new moMMy pins
(personalized pins with your favorite picture)

launching... new biRdie pins

...prepped for a MOPS boutique and happily sold many inspirational plates...

... more prepping

... and planning

... and completing.

There are a few smaller shows on the horizon, but I am so happy about the opportunity
to be part of a larger show...

This event will take place on May 15th in Long Beach.
Want to know a secret....
With this venue,  I'll have to prepare a booth space.
A full 10 x 10 space of creativity to sell creativity- yikes!
(Something, I've always been a little freaked out about).
I am sharing the space, with a friend that I met at a prior venue.

Between the both of us, I think we will be able to pull
something together and make a nice showing.
Her work is quite lovely-
sweet plush animals out of reclaimed materials- so well made and stylized.

I am on a path right now, to continue integrating
more and more of my own paintings into the plates...
and perhaps have a few mixed media pieces to bring.

For anyone in Los Angeles- check out the Patchwork website-
perhaps we'll see you there... at a booth or stolling the show?
If anyone has any thoughts on a booth space they'd like to share-
feel free to leave some seeds in the comment area.
Any creative ideas are welcome!

Time to check out the rest of the creativity from Sneak Peek Friday.
Thanks for stopping by, and know that
"Y O U make a difference"!

Time for Some Giving Back...

A short and sweet post to end of a week of craziness.
It always get's a little nuts before a show. The kitchen table is full of paper,
the counter's are full of glass pieces. The dining room table is loaded with more paper,
glass and the containers used to transport everything.

that I am showing at this weekend looks like a fabulous way to start Valentines Day.
"Handy Husband" is joining me, and I understand we receive
2 wine glasses when we check in.
"h a p p y   d a y"  it will be-  sales or not!

Above, is the plate that I donated, for the auction to benefit Foodshare.
I always love to give an auction item. I have a "huge soft spot"
for food programs, so this one is a true "heartfelt" donation.

Since it was my 2 year anniversary on etsy this past week,
I was thinking it was time for a giveaway. The friendships, the support,
and the kindness of everyone I've been connected with on this artful journey
is beyond words~
so a "grateful giveaway" is in order.

I've decided to offer 2 of my "Heartsie's" as a "thank-you"
for friendship and support.
That means 2 winners!

To enter the "grateful giveaway" choose from the list below:

1- leave a comment on this blog page. (1 entry)
2- become a follower of this blog. (1 entry)
3- post one of my blog buttons on your blog. (1 entry)
4- tell me if you are a coffee or tea drinker. (1 entry)

Feel free to enter as many as you like. If you already follow or have a button on your blog,
just let me know in your comments. I'll make sure you have the proper entry's.
The winner will be chosen on Valentine's Day.
I'll post the winner's here and get mailing addresses then.

Since I don't have any connections with "the accounting firm for the Academy Awards",
I'll use the pick from the bowl technique~ sound good?

Have fun! Looking forward to giving back!

1 happy winner will receive some love...

1 happy winner will receive some joy...
