Who's Flying Now...?
...where did t i m e go...
Just a few thoughts today...

I am off to the graduation ceremony, where I am sure I will have that video in my mind that zips through the baby years, childhood, classroom mom, silent auctions, art programs, favorite teachers, worrying that he's making friends, fitting in, worrying that he's on target, making changes, encouraging his talents, watching him grow, watching him succeed, watching become a fine young man with a lot of path's of his own to choose from, journey on, and accept.

"Leaping toward the sky..."
I made
a
w i s h,
and
it
c a m e
to be ...
I've been feeling as if I am at a crossroads in my creative process as of late, and I haven't been able to put my finger on what the next step is to be. I came across an e-course that has become a dream come true.
"Flying Lessons," by kellyrae roberts has been, and is continuing to be, a perfectly timed gift. I feel as if I am looking through a lens of a camera and the view is getting clearer and more focused everyday. And how could it not? When you look at the work, words and wisdom of kellyrae... (http://kellyraeroberts.com/) you know you are in good hands-- literally! (check out some of her pictures on her blog- you'll see what I mean.)
It has been inspiring and uplifting to meet many new friends through this process. I am sure you'll see the gradual changes between my blog and my offerings, when this course comes to completion. There are so many new ideas and creative paths revealing themselves, that I find I am getting to bed later and later every night. My journal book is filling up fast, and I feel like I've learned to read in chinese. Oh- what I mean is... reading the lesson's online, (along with the multitudes of incredible and informative comments from fellow traveler's) has me scrolling up and down to savor every last bite. I think I may have a handle on the chinese reading format. Just need to learn the language.
I'd like to share a video clip that was posted in class. It promotes a dvd that shows many women artists living out their bravest dreams. What an inspiration- and that's just the clip.
Onward to face fears, be brave, soak up more and fly...

Infamous... Ice Resin®
I have to tell you, I have been anxiously awaiting the chance to play with my new tool.... IceResin®. After seeing the demo at CHA, and after following the objectsandelements blog for so long, I felt like it was time to step up and use the real thing. This product is pretty amazing. It is a jewelers grade resin and has a crystal clear clarity when hardened. (Except, if you overwork the product, which I found at the end of one of my pours. One piece has some cloudy specs, and I think they are the striations that occur when the product is open to the air too long, and/or overstirred.)
I was a little timid with my first run, so I didn't push it too far on the doming- but I feel confident that the product does it beautifully. (Especially after seeing all of the beautiful work on http://objectsandelements.typepad.com). I'm excited and I'm going keep exploring with it. Above is a sneak peek at the pieces I am posting at twig2neststudio.etsy.com. How blessed we are to be able to create! Loving it!!!

Broken Rules...
Now I've gone and done it! I've broken all of the rules in the "good blogger handbook"! I had gotten too busy with life the past couple of ______'s (I can't even say it out loud) that I was remiss in blogging. Between a couple of auto competition's my son was in, a couple of weeks in New York and a couple of arts & crafts markets to prepare for... I inadvertently took a couple of ______'s off from posting. The dust is settling, and I can see my way clear to catching us all up.
Here's what's on the studio table....I've been working with these lovely pendant
trays from Nunn Design to create a variation on my
photo charm keychain's featured on etsy.
I've been using various clear gloss mediums to fill the tray,
but I am about to try the much acclaimed Ice Resin®.
I had the pleasure of meeting the objects and elements design team
at the CHAback in January.
After seeing the demonstration for Ice Resin®
I was hooked.
Well, I am prepping for Red Rabbit this coming Saturday May15th,
and I plan to bring these lovely pieces with me, all assembled and ready to go.
If you are up for a fun and fabulous day-- Glendale Civic Auditorium will be the place to be! Carmen always puts on a fabulous event - complete this year with the "Buttermilk Truck" and some great make and takes in her craft workshops...
(not to mention the most exciting vendors).

Love & Joy... Spring has Sprung?
There's nothing like warm weather and the awakening of Spring to feel inspired. My mission for March, was to find some delightful new paper and create something fresh and floral- without being typical.
On my quest for new paper, I was able to find some screen printed gift wrap (love plate above) that feels a bit asian inspired... as well as some darling napkins with a sweet bird print (joy plate above). I have been coveting my little bird napkins for a bit, as I know that, once they are gone-- they are gone. (Note to self- "go with your gut and buy multiples if you really like a pattern", as I have been sadly noticing that, some of my faves aren't readily available anymore.)
I used the little bird pattern on a previous post with my "Sing" plate, but felt a need to continue the bird theme on a smaller version. A lot of people tell me they like the smaller 6 x 6 size for a jewelry dish, soap dish or simply display dish. Perhaps an even smaller version on a pendant next????

The Pink Parlour Festival... How could I resist?
http://www.thepinkparlour.com/
I am preparing to exhibit at the 'The Pink Parlour Festival 2010', next Sunday. It's a unique one-of-a-kind event that completely caters to women of all ages. Looks like a lot of creativity and estrogen in one wonderful venue! The Pink Parlour is a festival celebrating the creativity of women and I am extremely excited to be part of it.
In the words of the Pink Parlour creators...
They anticipate their 2010 festival will more than double in attendance. Their objective is to "unite women and collaborate talent, bringing together unique hand crafted items and art, at affordable prices. It’s girl power at its best with female fronted bands and djs entertaining all day. Goody bags filled with samples, treats and coupons will be given out to the first 200 attendees. So ladies, come join the craft revolution!"
